Submission Preparation Checklist

• The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
• The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
• The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

Author Guidelines

All manuscripts must contain the essential elements needed and must be divided into clearly defined sections - for example Cover letter, Title, Author names with corresponding author marked, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Figures and Tables with Captions, Acknowledgement, Conflicts of interest. If the article includes any Supplementary material, this should be included for peer review purposes.

Cover letter: The articles must always be accompanied by a cover letter, stating the type of the article and that the article submitted is neither published nor is under consideration by any other journal. It should also have a statement of the main point of the article. Names, affiliations, and e-mail addresses of five potential referees can be mentioned.

Main submission:

• The title of the article must be with relation to the content and should not be similar to any other published article.
• Research articles must contain an abstract, keywords, introduction, material & methods, results & /or discussion and a conclusion
• Review articles must contain abstract, keywords and the main text. Conclusion is optional
• Abstract must summarize the concept being addressed, how the study was performed, the primary results and the authors brief conclusion from these results. It should be not more than 250 words.
• Keywords are the highlights of the article and be from 4-10 in number.
• Abbreviations, if any must be mentioned.
• Introduction must be a concise review of the subject area and the rationale for the study
• Materials & Methods must include all the methods used in the study in sufficient detail so that other researchers would be able to reproduce the research. When established methods are used, the author need only refer to previously published reports; however, the authors should provide brief descriptions of methods that have been modified. Identify all materials used. The populations for research involving humans should be clearly stated and enrollment dates provided.
• Results must be in a proper sequence with reference to tables, figures, and supplemental material as appropriate.
• Discussion must include the new and important findings of the study as well as any conclusions that can be drawn. The Discussion must analyze the present data with the previous findings. Limitations of the experimental methods should be indicated, as should implications for future research. New hypotheses and clinical recommendations are appropriate and should be clearly identified.
• The tables, figures with legends and the supplemental material (if any) must be cited appropriately in the text and should be submitted in separate word files
• Acknowledgements for the work can be mentioned. Funding if any, must be clearly mentioned in the acknowledgement section
• Conflicts of interest must be clearly stated
• References of all the citations mentioned in the text must be given along with the author name, year of publication and the title of the article. E.g: Moore E, Litwic AE, Belward P, Taylor P, Warwick D, et al. How Do Anthocyanins Affect Peripheral Blood Flow: A Systematic Review. Archives of Clinical and Biomedical Research 1 (2017): 48-58.

As Chemistry and Physics at one borderline and Chemistry and Biology at the other become indistinguishable so crossdisciplinary research is leading to the fascinating “new” overarching field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (N&N). Ingenious strategies for the creation of molecules and extended atomic structures with complex exactly-specified infrastructures and function are being developed – basically nanoscale devices that “do things” are now being created. New experimental approaches which focus on how atoms assemble are leading to the production of novel nanostructures and research is focusing on the control of self-assembly processes ie the bottom-up approach to the production of materials with advanced function. This new approach is leading to novel advanced materials with exciting new applications. Fascinating fundamental insights into formation mechanisms are being revealed and nanoscale devices, which parallel devices in standard engineering are now being created. This new journal, Journal of Nano Research, has been born at the ideal moment and is set to become a leading source of N&N research, essentially the “Frontier Chemistry of the 21st Century”. Breakthroughs are presently being realised which are generating a paradigm shift in synthetic chemical assembly techniques. On the horizon are applications ranging from civil engineering to advanced molecular electronics so promising to transform our everyday technology as well as basic economics.

Nanoscience and nanotechnology brought up an unprecedented excitement in the scientific and engineering communities, especially the last decade. The recent revolutionary advances in nanoscale phenomena open exciting, new avenues for research and discovery. The Journal of Nano Research (JNanoR) is a new venue for publishing original work in this ever evolving field. The journal is published by Trans Tech Publishers (Switzerland) and sponsored by the newly founded Society of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (SNN), an organization that serves the “nano” community worldwide. Nobel Laureate Professor Sir Harold W. Kroto serves as Honorary President of SNN and Honorary Editor-in-Chief for the Journal.

The potential contributions of advances in nanoscale phenomena to improving human health created even more excitement by envisioning new biomaterials, devices and techniques for biological detection and remediation. Thus, issues such as synthesis, fabrication and characterization of functional nanomaterials and nanostructures for biomedical applications (molecular recognition, nanotubes, nanowires, nanoparticles, self-assembly, polymer-based nanomaterials, thin films, medical imaging, diagnosis and therapy, etc.) become very important. In recognition of this potential, we dedicated the inaugural issue of the journal to “Nanomaterials for Biological and Biomedical Applications”. All papers in this inaugural issue are invited research papers. The contributions range from synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles and nanostructures to computer science issues in bio nanotechnology being a clear testament of the breadth and interdisciplinary nature of the journal.
