Inter IKEA group is one of the top leading organizations in the furniture industry. They have depended on strategic management to deliver a profitable customer journey appealing to millions of customers worldwide and maintain its competitive advantages over many consecutive years. The purpose of this paper is to focus on the Ikea's experience while analyzing its achievements during the recent few years and its strategic decisions that contributed to its success. In order to provide a better understanding of IKEA's position in the business world, the paper put the focus on IKEA's competitive position in the current global furniture industry by utilizing different strategy analysis models and literature review.

This situational and strategic analysis examines the present situation of furniture and fitting market leader IKEA providing recommendations on how the company could strategically maintain its lead on a long-term basis in an ever changing uncertain future.

This paper analyses multinational corporation IKEA and its sustainability strategy as described in its official sustainability strategy document. Several theoretical frameworks each describing various levels of analysis, namely individual, organisational, and network perspectives are introduced and applied to IKEA. Moreover, the justifications for why certain theories have bene chosen as well as insights they provide to understand IKEA and its sustainability strategy are discussed and analysed critically.

This paper focuses on why IKEA engages in CSR and what effects this has on strategy and communication. The research is based on IKEA Sweden and the interview scope of the essay consists of top management at IKEA headquarters and top and middle management at two IKEA stores. We established a theoretical framework based on earlier research as well as on theoretical concepts in the CSR field. The results point towards mainly businessoriented motivations for CSR. However, with growing societal expectations on IKEA, legitimacy is increasingly important and so IKEA is on the verge of changing its CSR strategy and CSR communication.

Conversely, the flagship Stockholm line of furniture entices sophisticated consumers towards mid-priced, superior value products with quality materials such as walnut, bone china, and rustic grain leather.
