Indira Gandhi National Open University PhD Entrance Exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the month of December. IGNOU PhD Admission Guidelines 2024

• Students who completed 2 Years of Master's and 3 Years of bachelor's or 1-year master's and 4 years of bachelor's are eligible to apply.
• Applicants must have secured at least 55% marks in their qualifying examinations.
• A relaxation of 5% is available for candidates who fall under the SC/ST category.
• Candidate must submit the application form before the deadline and a Hard copy will not be accepted.
• Every student who wishes for IGNOU PhD Admission is required to take the entrance test conducted by the National Testing Agency(NTA).
• The final selection will be based on the merit list and will be completed after the personal interview/viva.
• Use of any electronic device or mobile is not allowed on examination premises.

IGNOU PhD Admission 2024: Check Eligibility, Fees, and Application Process

Candidates who have a valid UGC NET score of 2024 or a valid UGC NET score with JRF are eligible to apply for PhD admission.

The PhD program at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has begun accepting applications. It is now possible to register for the PhD program on the website ignouadm.samarth.edu.in . Applications for PhD programs at the Open University can be submitted through the aforementioned official website.

According to the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2022, candidates who have a valid UGC NET score of 2024 or a valid UGC NET score with JRF are eligible to apply for PhD admission. There is a 1000 rupee application fee to submit an online application.

IGNOU will reserve 5 per cent of the seats for people with disabilities (defined as those who have at least 40 per cent handicap); however, these applicants will not be reclassified according to their suitable category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC/EWS).

According to the University Grants Commission, JRF-qualified students are accepted into the PhD program following an interview. According to the official website, those who have a valid UGC NET with JRF will be invited for interviews, which will be given full weight. The interview process for these individuals will consist of three parts: communication skills (20 percent), subject domain (40 percent), and research technique (40 percent).

The final merit list for PhD admission will be created by combining the merit lists of JRF applicants and those with valid UGC NET scores in categories 2 and 3. “IGNOU starts process for Phd admission, makes samarth portal for registration live,” informed an official tweet from IGNOU.

Indira Gandhi National Open University, IGNOU, has commenced the admission process for PhD programmes on the official website. Candidates who wish to enrol for PhD programmes can visit the official website of IGNOU at ignouadm.samarth.edu.in.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Candidates with a 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed are eligible to apply.

• Candidates with an equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution are also eligible to apply
• As per the official website, candidates with valid UGC NET with JRF or valid UGC NET score of the year 2024 are eligible subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria for PhD admission as prescribed in the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022.
• Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate

Selection procedure:

A combined merit list of JRF candidates and candidates with valid UGC NET scores under categories 2 and 3 will be prepared which will be the Final merit list of selected candidates for PhD admission, informed IGNOU.

Candidates need to note that 5% of seats will be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (with not less than 40% disability) and candidates with valid UGC NET with JRF shall be called for an interview and the interview shall carry 100% weightage.
