Courtesy Essay On Courtesy School Essay
'English dictionary online' gives the synonyms and more words related to courtesy, however I find it in an unique way-
Courtesy means gentle and polite behavior in dealing with people in our day to day life.
It is an act of civility and good manners. Courtesy is a great virtue in a man's life. Courtesy demands one to be modest, tasteful and decent in his talking to and behaving with others. Courtesy is the gift of treating others with warmth and respect. It means according dignity to people by being considerate, responsive, and kind in our dealings with them.
Courtesy costs nothing but pays a lot in return. A Courteous person is liked and loved by all. This type of men remain s very popular among his friends and relatives. Everybody have willingness to help him in the time of need .These well behaved courteous people are the foundation of good society and nation. But these days the number of these types of people is less. That is why our society is suffering a lot from ill antisocial activities. It is because Courtesy create great atmosphere of living with coherence. Most of the people whom we come across everyday are generally arrogant, impatient and self centered. They neither love other nor are loved by any of them.
The elders , seniors and parent have big role to make our society and nation courteous and well behaved by imparting and building the parameters of good behavior and courtesy in younger, subordinate and children respectively. Teachers have also great role to model our students on right path of courtesy. The value of courtesy must be kept at the priority level in the schools. It also has a monitoring process and regulation from government side to create healthy society.
Where to maintain courtesy:
*At the time of receiving relative we should use polite words. We must avoid any negative comments about the forefront ; which will drag him into uneasy state. We should showcase ourselves with cheers and with warm welcome.
*If we are having tea or food and somebody comes during this time, then we must ask him for having same thing which are being eaten by us at that time.
*We must avoid rudeness while dealing with newcomers in our city. This sends a strong message of high ethics of our city to the newcomers.
*Please, sorry, welcome, right etc words must be used while reporting or dealing any matter that directly connects one with the other. It is the courtesy of a businessman which raises his reputation among the customers. Her politeness and pleasing feelings is the free package sold here without any cost.

Courtesy Essay in English

When you look up the meaning of courtesy in a dictionary it manifests a number of meanings, i.e., politeness, good manners, civility, respect, kindness, gallantry, etc. When you take courtesy as a term, then it means polite behavior with others. If we have a glance at every religion of the world, it teaches the same concept while dealing with people disregard of color, race, language, identity, economic status, etc. Besides this kindness, one has to be responsive as well.
The person who shows courtesy is loved by the people, which in turn, creates positivity and a pleasant social environment in his surroundings. Consequently, the effects of this positivity also prevail in his life and take him on the path of success. Everyone wants to help the polite person if it comes to the push. The courteous person is actually the basis of a successful society.
In the ancient past especially in Stone Age, when man was not so much social, used to live in the caves, had no far relations with the other people was not aware of this act of kindness. Many wars were fought due the crudeness and rudeness. As time passes the man became civilized and came to know about ethics and manners, which lead him to a society of civilized persons.
Apart from such mannered persons of a civilized society, there are many among them who are still not courteous, they are impatient people with no tolerance which makes it difficult to add harmony in a society. Many conflicts arise on the family, neighborhood, or even of regional level due to such an unkind school of thought.
The following reasons can be considered for the deterioration of politeness and courtesy among societies.
- Detachment from religions : The history of human evolution shows that with the passage of time the civilizations developed. They incorporate many customs, norms, and traditions based on the religion of the settlement as they grew. The teaching of every religion reveals almost the same approach towards the act of kindness, politeness, and courtesy.
The different eras of human civilizations showed the adaptation of any one religion in the past but with the passage of time and development now people are more inclined towards the worldly attitude rather than religion which deprived them of the basic teaching, how to live with humanity not cruelty of selfishness.
- Role of elders: The other thing which matters a lot is the role of elders in the grooming of their Youngers. Most people are not spending time with their children and do not share any learning behaviors or meaningful stuff, moral stories, etc. which can help them to survive better in society. The tradition of storytelling and guiding kids is now diming, mostly people are tangled in the race to earn more and more, and they left their children in the daycare centers or push off them to schools, bypassing all other responsibilities regarding their children.
- Role of teachers: Teachers are the society makers. They build individual just like to construct a man from a dough with everything of his own school of thoughts, if a teacher is responsible towards his society, will be keener in the transferring of moral culture with the teachings of ethics and manners along with courtesy which is a basic thing in a group of humans which we called as a society. Unfortunately, this culture is dwindling now; the teachers are not fulfilling their duties regarding the basic needs of spending life with basic human behaviors.
- Lower standards of morals: As stated earlier that in history with the passage of time the civilization became stronger with strong moral values. Regrettably, the modern era is not considering the strong moral values of courtesy and is considering it just a wastage of time, which in turn have many adverse effects but the man is unaware of it.
- Selfishness : With modernization, the culture of sympathy and kindness is diminishing. People are more inclined towards self-centering rather than thinking about others.
- Media: Media have many modes like electronic, print, web, and social. With the development of technology, the world is like a global village. Many cultures of the world are mixing now. People are more likely to adopt the imported or non-indigenous cultures through these media modes, which affect them negatively. Human behavior showed that the conservativeness of individual cultures made people bounded to their own way of living styles in their respective societies.
- No sensitivity towards human feelings: Going towards entropy, man is no more sensitive, and not considering human feelings. Every person is unaware of the other even he is living next door.
- Money is everything: Money, Money, and Money is everything now. When man was not developed he used to take care of human emotions but with the passage of time, this is now an unnecessary aspect which is nothing to do with.
- More towards expansion and have no time: Man has to run and do worldly expansions. According to him the courtesy and politeness are now like a hurdle in his way to development. He considers it the full wastage of time and nothing else.
- Lifestyle : The lifestyle of contemporary man does not allow him to stop for a while and behave in a courteous way. He is more like a machine with no feelings. The job structure and shortage of time have made him a robot than a human being.

Courtesy is like a set of tools we use to interact with others in a kind and respectful way. Let’s take a closer look at the key components that make up courtesy:
Table of Contents
Politeness:
Courtesy is about using good manners and being considerate of others. This includes simple actions like saying “please” and “thank you,” using respectful language, and greeting people with a smile. When we are humble, we make others feel valued and respected. For example, holding a door open for someone or offering a seat to someone in need are acts of courtesy that show that we care about the comfort and well-being of others.
Respect means treating others as we would like to be treated. This means listening to others without interfering, acknowledging their opinions and ideas, and avoiding judgment or criticism. When we show respect, we recognize the value and dignity of every person, regardless of their background or beliefs. For example, respecting someone’s personal space, cultural practices, or beliefs shows our acceptance and appreciation of diversity.
Consideration:
Consideration involves thinking about how our actions affect others and trying to avoid harm or harm. It means being aware of other people’s feelings, needs, and limitations. Acts of mindfulness can be as simple as cleaning up after yourself, being on time for appointments, or offering help to someone in need. By practicing meditation, we show empathy and compassion toward others, fostering a sense of community and cooperation.
Benefits of Courtesy:
Being polite and kind to others brings many good things. First, it helps us get along better with people. When we treat others well, they feel happy and respected, and they are more likely to treat us in the same way. It makes our relationship stronger and more positive. Also, being humble makes us better places to live. When everyone is polite and respectful, it creates a peaceful and friendly environment, whether at work, at school, or in public. Also, when we are polite, people see us as nice and friendly, which helps us make new friends and earn people’s respect. Simply put, being polite doesn’t just make us feel good; It makes the world a better place for everyone. Shorten with AI
Examples of Courtesy in Different Situations:
Everyday moments:.
In everyday life, being polite is about doing simple things that show kindness and respect. For example, smiling at someone, saying “please” and “thank you,” and holding the door open for others are all polite acts. Even helping someone with their bags or offering a seat to someone who needs it can make a big difference. These small gestures may seem insignificant, but they can brighten someone’s day and make the world a friendlier and happier place for everyone.
Courtesy at work is about treating your co-workers with respect and consideration. This means listening to them when they are talking and not interrupting them. This includes being punctual for appointments and keeping promises. When you respect your colleagues and fulfill your responsibilities, you help create a positive and supportive work environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated.
Even on the Internet, it’s important to be polite and kind to others. This means using polite language and avoiding rude or hurtful comments. It’s also important to listen to others and thank them when they help you. By being respectful and considerate online, you contribute to making the Internet a more enjoyable place for everyone to interact and communicate.
Out in Public:
When you’re in public, politeness means being considerate of others and their needs. This can include giving up your seat on a bus or train for someone who needs it more, waiting patiently in line without pushing or biting, and cleaning up after yourself in shared spaces such as parks or restaurants. By being considerate of others, you help create a positive and harmonious environment in public spaces, making them more enjoyable for everyone.
Examples of Courtesy in Action:
Holding the Door Open: Imagine you are walking into a building and someone is following you. A polite move would be to hold the door open for them, allowing them to pass through without struggling through the door.
Saying “Please” and “Thank You”: When you ask for something, adding “please” makes your request polite and respectful. And when someone does something for you, expressing gratitude with a sincere “thank you” shows appreciation for their kindness.
Giving Compliments: Offering genuine compliments to others is a simple but powerful act of courtesy. Whether you compliment someone’s outfit, compliment their hard work, or compliment their talent, a compliment can brighten someone’s day and make them feel valued.
Respecting Personal Space: Respecting other people’s personal space shows consideration and respect. Avoiding standing too close to someone or invading their bubble shows that you respect their boundaries and comfort.
Listening Attentively: When someone is speaking to you, giving them your full attention and listening attentively is a courteous gesture. It shows that you value what they have to say and are interested in their perspective.
Offering Help: Whether it’s assisting someone with carrying heavy bags, offering a seat to someone in need, or helping a colleague with a task, offering help demonstrates kindness and consideration for others’ well-being.
Apologizing When Necessary: Everyone makes mistakes, and owning up to them with a sincere apology is a sign of courtesy and accountability. Apologizing shows that you respect the other person’s feelings and are willing to make amends.
Being Patient: Patience is a virtue, especially in situations where things may not go as planned or when dealing with others who may need extra time or assistance. Being patient demonstrates understanding and empathy towards others’ circumstances.
By incorporating these examples of courtesy into our everyday interactions, we contribute to a more harmonious and respectful society. Small acts of kindness and consideration can make a big difference in creating a positive and better environment for everyone.
Challenges to Courtesy:
In our fast-paced modern world, many factors challenge the practice of modesty. A key challenge arises from a hurried lifestyle, as busy schedules and constant demands leave little time for thoughtful conversation. This quickness can result in impatience, short temper, and disregard for the needs of others. Additionally, technological distractions, such as smartphones and social media, lead to a decline in face-to-face communication skills, promoting a preference for virtual interactions. Furthermore, cultural differences in diverse societies can lead to misunderstandings and unintended breaches of politeness, as standards vary across cultures. These challenges underscore the importance of actively promoting civility by being mindful of our actions, setting boundaries with technology, and fostering understanding and respect for cultural diversity. By addressing these challenges, we can create a more civil and compassionate society.

Conclusion:
Finally, although challenges to decency exist in the modern age, they are not insurmountable. By recognizing the hectic lifestyles, technological distractions, and cultural differences that can hinder polite behavior, we can take proactive steps to address them. Fostering mindfulness, prioritizing meaningful relationships, setting digital boundaries, and fostering cultural understanding are essential strategies for overcoming these challenges and fostering civility in our interactions. Ultimately, by practicing kindness, respect, and consideration for others, we can contribute to a more civil and harmonious society where compassion and empathy prevail. Let us adopt these principles in our daily lives, ensuring that civility remains the cornerstone of our interactions with one another.
